  • Important Points to Keep in Mind

    • Our overall setting and timeframe is the "prime" Trek universe, post-Deep Space Nine/Voyager/Nemesis, in the year 2399 (377 years from today).
    • The FNS is an "in character" platform. Stories about actual Star Trek production news or any other "real world" submissions are not published.
    • The aim of our site is to showcase "typical" news stories occuring across the Federation and the known Star Trek galaxy that the average Federation citizen might read in his or her daily life. Stories involving the destruction of the Federation, a civil war, and other massively altering events are unlikely to be published.
    • You are always encouraged to submit a story for consideration, but the FNS Editorial Board has final approval about what we publish to the site.
    • If there are any editorial changes we wish to make or suggest to you, we will contact you to work together on a mutually agreeable revision. We will only publish a revised version of your story after receiving your approval. You can always withdraw your submission.
    • While we are a Star Trek fan endeavor, we avoid using as much as possible explicit registered trademarks of CBS Studios Inc., whom we recognize as the sole owners of Star Trek and all related marks. Thus, we will not publish stories featuring the main characters from any of the series or movies. Remember, it's a big galaxy out there. We encourage you to show readers what else is going on in the Federation beyond what we see in the series and movies.
    • We will not publish any submissions that are sexually explicit, excessively violent, or otherwise inappropriate or obscene as deemed by the FNS Editorial Board. We will not publish any material we deem to promote hate, intolerance, violence, or bigotry based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religion, philosophy, or creed.
    • If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask us. We look forward to reading your submission!
