The Federation News Service is a community-oriented website that provides a repository of Star Trek-themed content. We encourage members of the role playing, simming, and fan fiction community to submit content generated from their own role playing games or stories, and use content from our site in their games and works, in accordance with the conditions below.

The Federation News Service is not endorsed by, sponsored by, nor affiliated with CBS, Paramount Pictures, or any other Star Trek franchise, and is a non-commercial fan-made website intended for recreational use.

Editing of Submitted Content

The FNS reserves the right to edit all submitted content for clarity and style.

Approval

The FNS editorial board will review all submitted content and will have final approval over whether submitted content is published. Content that does not meet quality or content guidelines may be rejected.

All content submitted to the FNS is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0) license.

In short, by submitting work to the FNS, you allow it to be used in perpetuity on this site, and by others as long as they credit the FNS. The terms of the license do not allow others to pass off the work as their own, but it does allow them to “remix, transform, and build upon the material” as long as they agree to share derivative content in the same way.

You should not submit content to the FNS that you’re uncomfortable with others using in their own games or works.
