Mysterious ionic flare cripples Cinnri system, disables USS Victory

CINNRI MAJOR — A sudden ionic flare at the edge of the Cinnri system unleashed a massive energy burst that disabled the Sagan‑class USS Victory, knocked out orbital infrastructure, and plunged the Federation colony on Cinnri Major into darkness.

While taking on supplies above Cinnri Major, the USS Victory detected unusual energy readings near the system’s outer boundary. Moments later an ionic flare erupted, crippling the starship and knocking offline communications relays and the civilian‑run station K‑57. Additional bursts followed before the phenomenon dissipated, leaving several pockets of distorted subspace in its wake.

Captain Jhesse Sh’Zyhlohr managed to transmit a distress call, relieved that no one aboard was seriously hurt. The USS Uhura and USS Yorktown responded, with the Yorktown towing the stricken Victory to Starbase 8 for repairs.

Scientists remain puzzled by the flare’s origin or likelihood of recurrence. Starfleet has issued a sector‑wide advisory urging vessels to steer clear of similar anomalies and to notify nearby colonies so they can brace for possible surges.

“Until we can properly identify what causes these flares, we must remain vigilant and be ready to lend aid when needed,” the advisory states.

Thanks to Starfleet engineers, Cinnri Major is close to full recovery: a new geothermal generator now powers the settlement, and K‑57 station is operational once more.
