Starfleet Editor caught embedding hidden messages in mission reports

MARS – In a startling revelation, an editor within Starfleet’s communications division has been found altering official mission reports to hide covert messages. The discovery has sent shockwaves through Starfleet, raising concerns about the integrity of its communication processes.

The editor, whose identity remains undisclosed, was responsible for finalising reports on Starfleet missions. These reports are critical for informing Federation leadership and the public about Starfleet’s activities. However, a routine review by an officer in the Federation’s Office of Communications uncovered subtle inconsistencies in several reports. Initially dismissed as minor errors, these discrepancies were found to form coherent, hidden messages when pieced together.

The content of these messages is classified, but sources within Starfleet Intelligence confirm they were sophisticated enough to evade detection for some time. Whether these messages were intended for internal or external parties is still under investigation.

Admiral Talia Renshaw, who is overseeing the investigation, emphasised the seriousness of the breach: “The accuracy and honesty of our communications are paramount. This betrayal of trust is being addressed with the highest priority.”

The investigation is ongoing, with Starfleet Security and Federation Intelligence reviewing all reports handled by the editor. In the meantime, additional security measures are being implemented, including secondary reviews of mission reports and enhanced vetting for those in sensitive positions.

This incident highlights the challenges Starfleet faces in safeguarding the integrity of its operations. The Federation Council has been briefed and may call for a comprehensive review of Starfleet’s communication protocols.

As the investigation unfolds, the Federation News Service will continue to provide updates, ensuring transparency and accountability in this critical matter.
